Founded: 1927

Area: 15.5 Square Miles

Altitude: 1,000 to 1,200 feet above sea level

Location: San Fernando Valley; 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles Civic Center

Climate: Sunny and comfortable (Mediterranean type). Average humidity 44%. Yearly rainfall 12"- 25". Average temperatures: Summer high 91 - low 55, Winter high 65 low 41.

Government: Suburb community of Los Angeles with City Mayor and Council.

Services: Police, Fire, Rubbish, etc. by the City of Los Angeles.

Retail Outlets & Services: Over 500. Trading population 1.5 million in the San Fernando Valley.

Zoning: Existing commercial 215 acres (2.4% of land area). Planned commercial 260 acres. (Significant amounts would be used to deepen commercial lots for parking).

Manufacturing: None zoned for heavy industry. One parcel zoned CM (Light Industry).

Business Licenses: Los Angeles City Clerk, Valley Office 14404 Erwin Street, Van Nuys 91401.

Transportation: All Los Angeles facilities. San Diego Freeway (I-405) borders the community. Simi Valley freeway (118) passes through, and the Golden State Freeway (I-5) is nearby.

Medical Facilities: Three major convalescent hospitals. Holy Cross and Northridge hospitals in immediately adjoining communities.

Library: Granada Hills Branch of Los Angeles Public Library.

Schools: Seven elementary, three junior high, two senior high, several parochial and private; California State University at Northridge is in immediately adjoining community.

Houses of Worship: Twenty-four in the area representing nearly all denominations.

Parks: There are two city parks. Granada Recreation Center is fully developed with a swimming pool & gym. The other is O'Melveny Park that comprises 672 acres (second largest in Los Angeles).

Organizations: Assorted service clubs, community organizations and fraternal organizations.
